When I woke up on Tuesday morning, I had not seen any of "The Mummy" movies. By the time I went to bed that night, I had watched the first three installments on DVD and attended a preview screening of the latest addition to the franchise, "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

In Sunday's Texas Rollergirls 2008 championship bout, the Hotrod Honeys defeated the Hell Marys to win the Golden Skate. In the opening round, the Honky Tonk Heartbreakers beat the Hustlers for the hell of it - no trophy, just good old-fashioned roller derby fun.

The Redbox calls my name every Monday night at midnight. My friend and I saddle up in the car and head down to the closest one, near Koenig and North Lamar. This week's picks were "Never Back Down" (an obvious decision) and "Timber Falls." The latter is a terrible horror film that manages to somehow rip off the combo of "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre," "Deliverance" and "Saved!" The film's lack of quality was not a surprise, but unfortunately, it's been a trend in the horror films I've been seeing lately (heads up, never rent "Boo" or "Crazy Eights.

There's a reason director Christopher Nolan's latest installment in the Batman franchise smashed box office records this weekend. Although there were a few weak spots in the film, it was simply a good action flick.
Gotham City has elected a new district attorney, Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart, "Any Given Sunday" and "Erin Brockovich"), who is hell-bent on cleaning up the city.
